Week 32: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Things I’m Learning to Love I’m getting smarter. Or maybe I am just learning to say more words in Spanish. Or maybe I’m just more comfortable… but when I’m SUPER full and can’t eat anymore I just ask my pensionista for a container to take my food home in. WAHOO. I don’t have to stuff myself AND I’m not offending anyone, I think. A few funny things happened this week: One of the elders found some blue contacts in the cancha (super sketchy I would probably never put anything in my eyes that I bought from the cancha) and put them in his eyes… BUT he could take them out. Ha Soo I had to take his blue eyes out for him. I told him we can’t all have eyes like me. My compi will not brush her teeth the regular sink water (which is probably smart) but she dropped some candy on the ground OUTSIDE and picked it up and ATE IT. Remember how I talked about all the dog pee/poo, cat pee/poo and human pee/poo outside… EEEKK. We learned how to say, ¨kiss my butt¨in quetchua… and now we are ...

Things I love My new area is GOLD. Everyone here is SO NICE. We knock doors and people are interested in what we have to say! The people in our ward VOLUNTARILY offer to help us! What is this place?! Seriously, my new area is like gold. My compi and I are both new to this area.. Which means neither of us knew where anyone lived or who to contact… bla bla BUT it’s been so easy because EVERYONE is so willing to help us! Our new pensionista has a parrot! I was sitting at lunch eating my food with the parrot on my shoulder and all of a sudden the parrot sprinted down my arm and made a mad dash for my plate of food! Crazy parrot, but everyday our lunch is SO entertaining! GUYS. My new companion is GRINGA. Like from the USA. AND she has less time in the mission than me! She has 4 months. I have 6 months. WHAT THE. Neither of us know how to speak Spanish very well… COOL. But by some miracle people understand us. Or at least say they understand what we’re trying to say. It’s been cra...

We stuffed it with rice and vegies and meat. SO WEIRD. But hey! Now I know how they make sausage…. WE MADE ICE CREAM. We all know I am obsessed with ICE CREAM so when someone asked if we wanted to make ice cream you better believe I was SO EXCITED! We made cinnamon ice cream and milk ice cream… I will definitely be making both with I get back! A TON OF KIDS SHOWED UP TO MY ENGLISH CLASS. Por fin!! Woop woop and then I ran into a few kiddos   on Sunday   and they all begged me to have another English class… Too bad I’m moving. We had a Noche de Cine in the church and A BUNCH OF RANDOM PEOPLE showed up! Nuevos!! Wahoo!! Little did they know we’d be showing a church movie. Week 29: The Dreaded Weekly Email

This week I spent a good amount of time studying the story of Abinadi (hopefully it's the same spelling in english OR who knows - I probably spelled it wrong in both languages). He gave his life to preaching the gospel AND he never lived to see the difference he made. His words touched one heart and because that one heart was touched thousands of lives were changed! It made me think about how a lot of the time we can't see the good we're doing in the moment that we are doing it BUT we are making a difference! :) Things I love: Alright. For all my Washington peeps. You’ll understand this. I’ve been stuck with mushy apples for the last 6 months BUT this week a random fruit truck passed me by and I decided to check out what he had… AND he had PINK LADY apples. I could have cried. I was so happy. WAHOO. This week we had devisiones again – I think you call them exchanges. Where I go with a member and my compi goes with a different member. I used to hate this because I ...
