Week 24: The Dreaded Weekly Email
Things I love:
- We were teaching a group of kids this week and THEY THOUGHT I WAS FROM SPAIN. They were shocked when I said I could speak English. Yeah, yeah… I know they were children BUT hey! At Least I could have a conversation with them AND they could understand me!! It’s great being able to talk with people and instead of looking at me like I’m crazy and turning to my compi to ask for help they’ll respond to me! WAHOO.
- This we were teaching a lady who seemed very sad. We talked with her for a while and she told us that her son had passed away at 7 years old – 13 years ago. I could see the hurt in her eyes. She was so sad but I was so grateful to confidently be able to teach her about God’s plan for us. That we are meant to be families for eternity – not just for our time here on earth.
- MY COMPI. She’s so scary and I LOVE it… most of the time. Ha this week an Elder asked me a question in English. My comp turned and snapped at him, she said (in Spanish obvi) “Do not speak to my comp in English, we are in a Spanish speaking mission…” She’s normally being sarcastic but I know a part of her is so serious and the elder was SO scared. She also likes to correct the elders. She has no fear telling them what to do, I just laugh. But I’m pretty sure they’re all legit scared of her. We had cambios (I don’t even know what that’s called in English) and I’m stuck with compi in my area for another 6 weeks WAHOOO.
Things I’m learning to love:
- Let’s be real. I hope this is something I never learn to love, POOPY TIOLET ON THE FLOOR in the bathroom. SO GROSS. Uhhhh. EW. So I’ve probably already mentioned this but you can’t flush toilet paper here so all the nasty toilet paper goes in the trash… and then sometimes people are just lazy or don’t know how to aim or I DON’T KNOW but somehow poopy toilet paper ends up on the floor in the bathroom. SO GROSS. It’s always in public bathrooms ICK.
- When you meet or greet someone you always kiss them on the cheek. As missionaries we can’t greet men with a kiss on the cheek and this week I felt like every man I met tried to kiss my cheek and I had to be THAT AWKWARD MISSIONARY that moves her head and puts her arm up as a blockade and says, “Lo siento!”. Ughhhh I’m SO AWKWARD. I’m gonna need lots of help being normal when I get home.
Alright. We got to the house of this little boy and hran and hid under hbed. When we pulledhim out he had MAKEUP all over. I died laughing. And then forced him to take a photo with me.
So we ate a FULLLL lunch and then we passed by our house to use the bathroom and the grandma we live with gave us this plate of food... GAHHHHH I was already SO foool... but THANKS :)
Totally safe. We have to pass this if we don't want to walk an extra 20min... which of course my compi DOESNT want to.
The ladies in my ward are the BEST
My grandma friend who can't hear and loves to sing.
Today I got to see my Compi from the CCM (MTC) woop.
We had a baptism.. but the other ward was having a huge activity with CRAZY music. So we ended up having our service outside.
We have had a hard time getting many people to come to baptisms. This is good to see!
