Week 36: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Things I love:
  1. This week Pamela got baptized… and I can not describe the happiness I felt for her. Seriously, I know that sounds dumb and clichĂ©. But she was so prepared, ready and grateful to finally have a purpose here, to finally understand Gods plan for her. Helping someone discover their own relationship with God brings a different kind of happiness. Knowing that I was able to share lasting joy with someone else made my heart SO HAPPY. #missionary #notsorry
  2. We painted someones house. Well, actually just a wall. My compi used to paint MURALS. How cool is my comp?!?! so she directed us and we did our best to help. BASICALLY start booking appointments with me for when I get back… JK. We mainly watched. And tried not to mess up.
  3. We made so many goodies this week, pizza, tomato soup, pancakes… It’s a problem. BUT I love eating. And people love learning to make American food SO we’re bonding. My body may not be so happy BUT I’m happy.
  4. Speaking of eating…. Compi has decided to TRAIN for a 7k with me!!!!! WAHOOO. So now we can eat more! Theres a lagoon near our house that is 7k so she said she’d train to be able to run it with me by the end of this transfer WOOP WOOP. I’m holding her to it J

Things I’m learning to love:
  1. Alright. Living on the fourth floor of an apartment building definitely has its perks… the view, the breeze, the privacy BUT taking the trash out is NOT one of those perks. This week, for the first timein 5 weeks we took all of our trash out. It was SO DISGUSTING. And so smelly. And leaking. And gross. Not something I’m proud of.
  2. This week we were walking around when we found a new street. We decided to walk to the end to find some people to talk to… Welp, I saw that it was a dead end and knowing Bolivia looked to my comp and told her that there’d probably be about 20 dogs waiting for us. I had barely finished my sentence when literally dogs came crawling out from EVERYWHERE. Under the cars, from around the corner, from sun bathing, from the door step and the all came charging at us. YEAH NO. We’ll explore that street another day.
  3. Hahaha. Oh my. This week I was trying to ask an old deaf grandma for a specific type of ice cream (yeah… again with the ice cream) but I didn’t know what it was called and she could NOT understand me. GAHHH. So I tried directing her (the tienda has a gate so I couldn’t just grab it). I kept saying things like, “a little higher” “the green one!”. Ugghh it was such a struggle BUT I finally got my ice cream AND I made a new friend. Grandma and I were laughing at the end of it all.

HAHAHA. my compi didn't support me in getting my 3rd ice cream for the day... but she soon regretted her cheetos decision
