Week 37: The Dreaded Weekly Email

HAPPY HALLOWEEN.

I love you all and LOVE hearing from all of you!!! Sorry I don't always have time to write out a response but you all are the BEST.

Things I love:
  1. The lightening storms here have been CRAZY! They’re so fun. Especially since we are on the top floor of our building!! It remind me of when I was in Haiti. We would sit on the roof and watch the lightening storms… and now I’m here doing the same thing in Bolivia.
  2. I GOT 5 LETTERS THIS WEEK. WHAT THE!!! Best week of my life!!! Too bad they were all from June 1st J So if you’ve sent me a letter… don’t worry. I’ll probably get it in 6 months!
  3. This week I was wondering why such difficult things happen to missionaries and their families why they are on their missions. As we are here serving God you think everything would work out perfectly. As I was thinking about this I realized that never in my life have I had such a close relationship with the Lord. Never have I trusted in his plan for me as I do now. Never have I felt SO MUCH joy during my trials. And then it hit me. This is the only place I could be truly happy while also passing through trials.
I am so grateful to be here in the mission. I know this is where I am supposed to be. ·

Things I’m learning to love:
  1. I was in the church helping when a few of the sisters came up to us and asked if we (the sisters) could watch the children and asked the Elders if they could help them practice volleyball. WHAT?!?! What makes someone think I would rather babysit than play sports?!!? YEAH RIGHT. I can play better than the Elders anyways… ok maybe not. BUT I can still play.
  2. We basically ran out of money this week. SO we lived on food that people offered us. Good thing people here are SO NICE and we really didn’t go hungry in the slightest.
  3. SOME OLD MAN SAT ON ME IN A TRUFI. You know in Princess Diaries when she says, “I got sat on again”. That’s how I felt. I was like HOMEBOY. I’m SITTING HERE. So then everyone in the trufi had a good laugh and he moved over to the other seat.

I've been thinking about Rach all this week. I love that girl. I've got a picture of us up above my bed. This week I was talking with a girl that had had some pretty terrible experiences in her life. I wanted to share with her the hope that religion has given with me. I wanted to let her know that I know that Jesus suffered for each of us, individually. He suffered and felt everything that we have and will ever feel. I wanted her to know that she is never truly alone. I was able to talk with this girl and hopefully help her feel that she has a grand purpose in this life. I know that I am here sharing that hope with people because of Rachel. Rachel is helping me bring that message of hope to the people of Bolivia.

They expected us to eat it alll?!?! We took a bunch home and had food for THE WEEK.
This girl shared her animal clothes with us. THANKS.

hahaha. THIS CHILD. He kept telling us his parents weren't home. And then he'd change his story. And then we'd start to walk away and he'd change his story some more. PUNK. We never ended up talking with his parents.
Another one with my Bolivian mom. She loves me... but still refuses to come to church. We're working on that :)
