Week 62: The Dreaded Weekly Email
Things I love:
- This week we were able to attend a sealing of the spunkiest family in our Ward. They were baptized about 2 years ago. They’re a couple, about 26 years old with two kiddos. The mom grew up in an orphanage and doesn’t know her family. They are the perfect example of a family whos life has completely changed through the gospel! Every time we call them to offer help or anything the dad answers and says, “What do you want?!”. Haha when we asked them about their sealing date the dad told us he didn’t pass and it was not going to happen… MER he’s always pulling my leg. But hearing them share their testimonies of how the gospel had completely changed their lives melted my heart. I was bursting with happiness for them!
- This week we went to visit a jovencita. Her dad opened the door for us and invited us in. He is SUPER active in his church and basically just wanted to bash us. As we were listening to him tell us that the Book of Mormon was all about Joseph Smith his daughter, who is not a member of the church, stopped him and began to calmly but confidently explain that the Book of Mormon was actually about our savior Jesus Christ and that it been written by prophets in the Americas. Gahhhh her testimony and strength made me so proud of her!
- We had a noche de hogar (family home evening) with a family that is preparing to send their daughter on a mission! The mother is scared to death! They are a very humble family and none of their kids have every been in an airplane or out of Bolivia. The mother was crying talking about her daughter leaving BUT she said she knew that the lord would be with her! Wahhh such a humble family with so much faith!
- On Sunday we were in the mountains waiting for a family to get ready so that we could go to church. GAHHH they were taking their sweet time and we were so far away from the chapel! We kept trying to help them hurry but we were so late! And we were so far up in the mountains… so compi and I both said little prayers in our head and BAM out of nowhere came a taxi. The driver said he was going home but we begged him and he finally agreed to take us to church! WOOP WOOP.
Things I’m learning to love:
- Chopping vegetables until my hands were bleeding. Eeek. We chopped vegetables for 4 hours. WAHHH. But hey. Service.
- Oh my gosh. GAHHHH. We were talking with an old man this week. He was a little out there and one of his eyes was super infected and oozing. The whole time he was talking with us he kept rubbing his eye with his hand. And at one point during his story he wiped his hand all over the dirty floor and then licked it. AND then he shook our hands as we were leaving. WHAT?! AHhhhh. I’m gonna get some oozing eye infection. GAHHH.
- I stubbed my toe!!! GAHHH it turned so purple and huge! I don't thinkI have ever stubbed my toe... I'd send a pic. But the little hairs on my toe are kinda nasty... So I'll just leave you to imagining it.
