Week 43: The Dreaded Weekly Email
Things I love:
Gahhhh. I could write a million reasons why I love CHRISTMAS but ain’t nobody got time for dat… SO I’ll just share a few reasons:
- CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. Remember how I lost all of my photos?? Welp, I did. I even brought my card to a tech guy and he looked and told me it was impossible to get my photos back. Mer. My stomach was a little sick over it. I was a little sad. A lot sad. AND THEN. An Elder told me he new how to recover photos. I was like yeah thanks someone has already tried… DON’T GET MY HOPES UP.. but if you want to try SURE WHY NOT. CHRISTMAS MIRACLE. He got EVERY SINGLE photo back!!! He’s the best.
- Everyone is so much KINDER and willing to talk about Christ around Christmas time. It is seriously the best time to be a missionary. Talking with people is SO MUCH easier!! I love it. The Christmas spirit is REAL. It exists ALLL over the world.
- We were knocking a door yesterday and a young girl answered. I have knocked that same door about 4 times AND every time someone new answers. But this time we were talking with the girl and asked her if she was attended any church. She said “No, but I want to go to the Mormon church.” WHAT?!?!?! I about fainted. And then asked her why she’d want to attend that church. She began to tell me all the good things she had heard. SO then I broke the GOOD NEWS to her. WE ARE MORMON. Woop whoop.
- My compi. She is such an incredibly person. She has had cancer TWICE. She had an operation on her back just before coming to the mission. The woman who raised her passed away when she was 17 and she’s lived ALONE since. AND HERE SHE IS. Out here in the mission to serve other people. She never complains. Never talks about her problems. And always has such a positive attitude. Suddenly all of the problems I thought I had seemed to disappear.
Things I’m learning to love:
- My compis FIRST WEEK in Bolivia and we have seen MORE DRUNK people than I have probably seen in my whole mission. Why this week?? Men peeing on walls, Cholitas squatting and peeing right in front of us, people telling me they LOVE ME in English, people yelling at us. WELCOME TO BOLIVIA compi :)
- This week I have also seen MORE DEAD ANIMALS then ever before. Seriously, poor compi. We saw dead dogs, cats and birds this week. Eeeeeek . The dogs made me sad L Almost all the dogs here are limping or have one leg that doesn’t work. I haven’t figured out if it’s stupid dogs or bad drivers, probably BOTH.
- Hahahaha AHHHH a man came up to me and started stroking my arm. We were just chilling in front of a grocery store and he had shoe shining stuff. He started stroking my arm and then pointing to my SANDALS. WHAT?!?!?!!? Hahaha he wanted to shine my SANDALS?!?! Or my FEET?!?! Who knows. Apparently I need to clean my feet and my sandals.
TEMPLE. The four of us had a sleepover. I LOVE SLEEPOVERS.
OH MY. This lady is the FUNNIEST woman I have ever met. She was making fun of people. I probably should not have been laughing. BUT I couldn't keep it in. WOOPS.
