Week 76: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Things I love:
  1. Gahhh it’s crazy to feel like it just keeps getting harder and then when you take a second to look back you can recognize all the little miracles that have been passing daily. I was focusing on all the hard things and I decided to forget them and just love the people here. Focus on how I could love and serve them more.. and everything changed. It just got better here. It didn’t seem hard anymore. People started serving us and we served them. Service makes the world go round, right? But really.  I have seen miracles through service.
  2. I FIGURED OUT HOW TO GET THE WHOLE WARD TO PARTICIPATE in our ward family home evenings. Every Sunday we have a family home evening in the chapel. . . There are always lots of people but not everyone participates. BUT I FIGURED OUT THE TRICK. I just had to walk into the office and unplug the WIFI. Now everyone participates. WOOP WOOP J
  3. Compi and I found some new workout videos. DANCE VIDEOS. Our workouts are obviously REAL HARDCORE. But they’re so fun. Oh my. It’s pretty hilarious how terrible we are at dancing. I’ll be sure to send a video. One day.
  4. This week there was a huge STAKE ACTIVITY. Every ward had to present a different dance from different parts of the world. It was super fun to see all the different dances! I also was able to run into a family that I met in my first area! They moved here from Venezuela when everything started to get bad there! They are such an example of faith and strength! I loved being able to see them!  


Things I’m learning to love:
  1. This week the drunks came out of nowhere! We were just walking down our normal street and 3 drunk guys in the same street started talking with us!!! One was especially touchy. I shook his hand and he would not let me go. Gahhh he kept pulling me closer and I kept getting more uncomfortable… and my compi was just laughing AHH. But don’t worry he let me go. We gave a tarjeta and invited him to church…  AND HE CAME TO CHURCH. WHAT?!?! He came to church and told everyone that I was his only friend. WHAT! Guess I made a new bestie.
  2. Wahhhh the nastiest dog followed us around for a day. AND it started fighting with every dog that passed us. MER. MER. I hate dogs a little more every day.
  3. We found a Llama. I am pretty sure it wanted to spit on me.

THIS FREAKING DOG. I hate this dog. It would run up so excited to see us every time we got to Sirleys house. It smells so bad, is so dirty and ALWAYS wanted to rub up on us. MER. And then it would follow us the rest of the day. NO.

That house that almost took my life. We carried all the bricks up to every level to build the house. And now we are carrying up dirt and rocks to put a floor in.

Things I love: Noche de Hogar or in English, Family Home Evening. We teach a short lesson and then we PLAY GAMES. For all my friends that LOVE games (not, all my friends hate games)BUT I have some new ones!!! And if anyone has any ideas for games with children SEND THEM MY WAY!! My compy does not trust me to protect her. The other night we finished a lesson at 8:20pm . We typically have to be home between   9 and 9:30pm   everynight. Normally I’d just say lets go home… but this night I said, “LETS GO TEACH CLAUS.” He’s getting baptized this Saturday so we have lots of lessons to teach him. My comp looked at me and said it was too dark and too dangerous. WHAT?!?! I could totally protect us!! The elders were with us and looked at my comp and said, “Lets go!”. My comp looked at the elders and said, “All of us together?! YEAH!”…    I started laughing so hard. WHAT?!?! Oh, ok cool. You’ll trust the elders and NOT ME?!?! Week 38: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Super short this week!!! But enjoy the pics. AND if you want a letter for Christmas SEND ME YOUR ADDRESS and I will send you one. Love you all!!! Things I love: We had an activity in the church and PEOPLE CAME! Normally we can expect maybe 20 people BUT this time we had 90 people come!!!! WAHOOO. We had a “Noche de Cine” – a movie night in the church. I spent ALLLLLL night cooking popcorn. I made over 30 batches of popcorn. WOOP. So you can add that to my new list of talents.   FRESH FRUIT. Alright I may have already wrote about this BUT there is a fruit truck that drives around here and they have SO MUCH FRESH FRUIT. This morning we chased down the fruit truck (because for some reason it couldn’t see two white giants running down the road) and for less than THREE DOLLARS $3$ I got 25 bananas, a papaya, and 8 mangos. WHAT!? Sorry mom, I’m never coming home. I’m staying just for the fruit ;) Things I’m learning to love: OH MY GOSH. The animal drama in the home...

Week 72: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Things I love: This week we visited a family whose family situation is a little rough. The mom is alone with her three kids. They live in a mud house with one room which has their beds, kitchen and everything. They mom began to lose her eyesight about a year ago and can hardly see now. The mom is a member but her kiddos aren't. She asked if we could help her teach her kids. Her one son is SUPER travieso.... or difficult. Everytime we asked if he liked going to church or if he wanted to learn he glared at us and said NO. Every word that left his mouth was NO! I had brought my book of mormon with pictures and I felt like I should share it with him. We began teaching from the book and he began to become interested.... He even said YES! What the! When we ended we asked him if he could end with a prayer and he said YES! What!?!?! Seeing the change in this little kid was a miracle! We helped Rucelvy (our convert) wash a blanket..... haha but it weighed about 50lbs when it was wet! ...
