Week 13: The Dreaded Email

We went exploring in the mountains again today and It was wonderful!!! We found an abandoned house and my comp told me she was too scared to go inside... so I climbed through the window. Isnt she the native?! Oh welll. She came in with me once I walked out through the front door.. She said she just need me to go with her.

Things I love:
  1. Hahaha. So the lady that makes us lunch everyday has a son named Emanuel. He is 5 years old and basically my best friend. His birthday was this week so I got him a few little gifts, one of which included a gummy candy that looked like dentures. Oh. One thing you should know, a lot of the kids here don’t have any teeth because they are rotted out, Emanuel is one of those children. I was taken a picture of him for his birthday and told him to smile with his teeth (because most people just glare at the camera here). Out of nowhere he started balling, crying so so hard. I had no idea not having teeth was a sensitive subject. Poor kiddo, I had to turn around to keep from laughing. I then grabbed the denture candy and told him to smile with that. He was much happier.
  2. We were helping a lady build sections for her garden this week. She gave me a big hug and then stopped and looked at me and told me I was too skinny. HAHA. YEAH RIGHT. But I will take it! And I will just go ahead and keep eating all the ice cream I want. OH! I discovered a new ice cream I love. Basically its just an icecream sandwhich but it doesn’t taste like icy frozen milk.
  3. A DOG PEED ON MY COMP AGAIN! But this time it was a ton.. and on the way to church.  I almost started crying I was laughing so hard. But don’t worry mom, I also handed her my hand sanitizer to clean up a little.
  4. The ladies we live with are so funny. They are two sisters probably 65 and 70 years old and they are always playing jokes on each other. The other day we got home late and one of the sisters had placed her sisters shoes all around outside like a ghost had been walking around with her shoes.

Things I am learning to love:
  1. They have these little baby chairs here that they always offer us to sit on. It is like a stool but only 6inches off the ground. Everyone has an awesome view up my skirt when I sit on those. I don’t know why those are so much more popular than regular chairs… OR! Even just sitting on the ground.
  2. The ghetto cars I ride around in all day. I was trying to figure out why the speedometer was on the opposite side of the car as the steering wheel… and then I figured out they had just ripped out the steering wheel and rewired it so theyd be driving on the correct side of the road.
  3. Everyone here loves to sing. LOVES TO SING. And sing LOUD. But…. Almost everyone here is tone deaf. Hahaha oh man. It is fun singing during lessons. During church. With my comp. The songs have new tunes everytime.
  4. Everyone at church loves to ask the missionaries to do things… For example. I taught the lesson on Sunday – I DON’T EVEN SPEAK SPANISH. Example #2.  2 min before the other class at church the teacher asked my comp and I to do a musical number – hahaha! Oh man.

Thanks for all the emails!! I love hearing from everyone!!!
