Week 21: The Dreaded Weekly EMAIL
We went paint balling this morning!! Woop woop it was so fun! My compi is CRAZY and I love it. She loves to dance, correct my Spanish, wear hot pink lipstick and the color black. We have lots of fun. And we teach lots of lessons :)
Things I love:
- This week we were visiting a family and they served us food (whats new?). It was super messy. I don´t know what it was called but it was like fry bread with a purple drink that you could dip your fry bread in. One of the girls was 5 years old and when I looked at here she had purple juice stuff ALLLLL over her. I asked her ¨¿Que paso?!¨ and without hesitating she glared at me and told me it was her beard. Haha I laughed so hard. I love the children here.
- IT´S IS GETTING WARMER. Alright. Our house used to be 57 degrees. I have a thermometer on my clock and that might not sound very cold but it was FREEZING. I would sleep with a beanie and my huge jacket and long socks. BUT now our house is 65 degrees and it´s THE BEST. I don´t wake up freezing anymore.
- The week we did a lot of service with a family because the mom broke her leg. We cooked with them, did laundry… the normal things. And they had a 3 year old little girl. I tried talking with her and she would stare at me and then correct my pronunciation. She would say I a word and then I tried to repeat it… She shake her head at me and then say it again… Haha Thank you, Brisa :)
- Compi corrects my Spanish and then we work on English… and every time after we practice English she complains about how bad her jaw hurts. Haha SORRY.
Things I´m learning to Love:
- When we were doing service one of the days this week we fried a bunch of plantains (every thing is FRIED). After frying them we had to smash them all, while doing so a bunch fell on the MUDDY ground. Compi didn´t even hesitate she picked them all up and threw them all back in the bowl thing to continue smashing… UHHH WHAT?!?! Diseases here I come
- Compi LOVES taking taxis and trufis EVERYWHERE. We live about 10min walking from the church and she would rather pay for a taxi than walk. I told her we had to start walking more.. So now she has a new excuse every night. It smells so bad she´s going to vomit so she can´t walk. I roll my eyes at here. Her feet hurt. I tell her we´re LAZY. Haha… compromising…
- MERRRRR. This week we helped de-lice a few children. That part was fine. But then I felt like I had LICE for the next 3 days. GAHHHHH I felt like I had bugs crawling allll over me. And who knows… I probably have lice now too.
