Week 14 - Dreaded Weekly Email

Went EXPLORING again this morning. We got up at 4:30am to meet with everyone at 5:30am. It was so early but so worth it BECAUSE we got to go hiking and we FOUND WATERFALLS!! Woop woop, grateful for exploring days.

Yesterday we had an activity with our the other ward in our chapel. Everyone who was interested in serving a mission got paired with a missionary and we went out prosolyting. I was a little nervous because I DON´T SPEAK Spanish and I was supposed to be helping whoever I got paired with. It ended up being so much better than I thought. I got paired with to girls ages 22 and 25.. They helped me with my Spanish and I helped them with talking to people. Ha turns out I´ve actually learned how to teach lessons and how to introduce our church. Who knew I could talk to people. WAHOO.

Things I love:
  1. I GOT A PACKAGE! Best day of my life. My mom is the greatest. So… for any of you wondering how to send me a package don´t worry it´s real simple. Just send it to the same address I sent you last time and I´ll probably get it in about a month. J Thanks Mom!
  2. Popcorn carts. I know, I know, one of the rules here is to not eat street food but I´m gonna hope that doesn´t include the popcorn carts because I love them! I can´t catch diseases from popcorn, right?!  It costs me 1Boliviano (which is 1/6th of a dollar) for a small bag of popcorn. You better believe I buy one of those ALLL THE TIME.
  3. Grateful for my name badge. The other night we were walking in a dark sketchy area when we saw a big group of people in the pathway. My comp kept whispering “Cuidado” but I didn´t even think twice about it until we got close enough to smell the alcohol in their breath. We said “Buenos Noche” and they mumbled something about us being Hermanitas. Saved by the badge.
  4. Singing practice. Ok. Typically I don´t enjoy singing. But with our Zone (the other missionaries in our area) it is so entertaining. Everytime we get together it takes so long to make anything happen… because they´re all a bunch of 18year old boys. But it´s pretty entertaining. I just laugh at them... and sometimes with them.

Things I´m learning to love:
  1. Tampico Juice. I do not understand why people like that stuff. Everyone loved it in Hawaii too. It´s so gross. A couple weeks ago I was thinking how I grateful I was no one had served it to me (because it´s everywhere) and then what do you know… I´m pretty sure almost EVERY SINGLE DAY this week we´ve been served a family size serving of Tampico juice. I just smile and say, Thank you :)
  2. The weather. I think I am turning into a wimp because I am FREEZING in the morning, FREEZING in the night and BURNING during the day. How am I supposed to dress for this weather?! Everyday I have to carry around a jacket with me so I don´t freeze at night… but then I´m sweating during the day.
  3. Remember how in 1st grade you learn about your space bubble?! That does not exist here. In church people sit so close to me. In the trufis. In lessons. Anywhere, everywhere people love to pop that space bubble I learned about.

Sorry for the terrible grammar. And spelling. It´s getting worse everyday. Love you all. Sorry for the lack of time this week!!
