Week 53: The Dreaded Weekly Email

Alright everyone. JUST IN CASE YOU FORGOT…. Next Monday is my BIRTHDAY. I am turning 19 years old (maybe that’s a lie). But Monday really is my BIRTHDAY. So feel free to write me about your favorite memory with me. Or the first time we met. Or something crazy we did together. Or WHATEVER YOU WANT. But I would just love to hear from all of you. :)

Sending love and blessing to all of you! Thanks for all your support!

Things I love:
  1. This week we had a conference about repentance this week. We talked about the need for repentance but also the reason we pass through trials in this life. One of my favorite quotes from Elder Holland (in a video) was that the road to salvation always passes through Gethsemane. He said that when life is hard remember that we are not the first ones to ask, “Ïs there no other way?”. The conference really helped me to take a step back and try to appreciate the hard times. There is a reason we pass through trials. There is a reason that this life is not always easy. We have to have hard times to truly appreciate the good times. I loved learning more about our Saviors life and how we can use his experiences to strengthen us.
  2. Melany got baptized! Melany is the daughter of our first convert in this area… back in October her mom got baptized! Wahh it's such a blessing spending a lot of time in one area on getting to see the progress of people over long periods of time. And the way the gospel can bless entire families! Melany was so cute and so NERVOUS! Ha but everything turned out so well!
  3. Still love the rain! The thunder and lightening storms here are SO COOL! And so loud! We had one the other day at 3 in the morning. WAH. It seemed like someone kept turning the lights on and off. BUT nope. It was NATURE. So cool .

Things I'm learning to love:
  1. A cat pee'd in my shoe. GAH I’m pretty sure this is worse than having a dog pee on me.. and since I laughed at my compi months ago this is what I get. I went to put my shoe on ( I keep my shoes outside of our house because they SMELL) and the left shoe felt a little soggy.. I was thinking, “Oh theres been a ton of rain lately  that’s probably what it is… but only one shoe??” So I took it off and smelled it GAG CAT PEE. Ugh so gross. I have washed it. Soaked it. Washed it again. Soaked it again. I could kill the cat! Cat pee never leaves. That smell lingers FOREVER. Mer.
  2. Tia (we call her tia because she’s like our Aunt to all the missionaries) tried to marry me off. She has some sobrinos that were visiting from LA and she told them that I’d be ready to get married in august. OH MY. This tia. She literally is my crazy aunt. I couldn’t stop laughing.. but the whole time they were in the house she was talking about MARRIAGE (which is halfway normal in the Mormon culture… we’re always joking about marriage… BUT THEY ARE NOT MORMON¨). Haha oh man.
  3. Diego and Valeria are moving! The ones I wrote about last week. They are DITCHING US and moving to Santa Cruz tomorrow… BUT that means that their prayers about work have been answered!
  4. Bought the nastiest chocolate this week. Tasted like chemicals. That’s what I get for buying chocolate.
  5. A little boy bit my butt. WHAT THE. Not a dog. A little boy.

This is chocolate. Wanna be m n m's... and they were so gross!!!
Dyed compis hair.. again. Woop woop.

 The children love me.
A CAT PEE'D IN MY SHOE. So gross. I washed it. Soaked it. THE SMELL DOES NOT LEAVE.
In the morning they were peeling feathers off a duck when we walked by... and then they were cooking it for us. EEK.
Melany got BAPTIZED!! Her mom got baptized in October and now Melany!
