Week 49: The Dreaded Weekly Email
I was in some sort of funk this week. I don't know what happened. I was beating myself up in my head... I kept praying to know how to improve, how to be a better missionary, a better companion just to know how I could improve... BUT guys there are so many miracles in my life. Yesterday we met so many people in the CHURCH. Who came on their own and wanted to learn. WHAT. That never happens. I think God was letting me know I was doing ok.
I love the mission. Love the experiences I'm having and the things I'm learning!
Love you allllll!!

Things I Love:
- Igo. I have no idea how to spell this. It’s some fruit. I had NEVER had it before but now I’m addicted. We steal tons everytime we visit a lady from our ward. She just laughs at us and tells us our mouths are going to burn. We found another tree in someones yard while we were walking down the street.. but the branches have grown over into the street SO we took advantage of that. AND THEN. Some lady in our ward heard that we loved this fruit and she brought us a huge bag FULLL to church. WHAT. I love the people here. And the fruit :)
- This week we went to a Noche de Hogar (family home evening.. or family night) with a family and fried a whole bunch of bread. Like a TON. BUT. The best part is that we just sit outside in the dirt and had this portable stove (their kitchen) and chatted and fried. I’m thinking I’ll buy a portable stove when I get back. It’s so much more fun. Chilling outside, sitting on the ground, cooking. Yup. That’s what I’ll be doing when I get back.
- 3 leches. CAKE. Why am I always talking about food?! Ugh. I have a problem. BUT this cake is so good. I learned how to make it this week… well I watched someone make it. AND then I ate it… So I pretty much know how ;) Well at least I know how to eat it.
- Watching people run for the trash truck. The garbage truck sings a song and then people SPRINT out of their houses with their garbage. Haha this week we had a great view of all the people sprinting out.
Things I’m Learning to Love:
- I don’t think I ever wrote about this… BUT we got maggots in our house. SO GROSS. My comp wanted to cook some chicken but forgot to get rid of the fat. And apparently she has some major fear of worms… so guess who got to clean it all up. UHHH WHAT. I kept telling her NO NO NO. This is not my mess. But the little punk just made disgusted noises and told me she couldn’t. SO GROSS. SO GROSS. I tried burning them… but eventually just ended up drenching our house in BLEACH.
- So we have a couple food restrictions in the mission. One of the things we can’t eat is strawberries because people have gotten really sick from eating them. BUT this week a lady gave us a strawberry juice. She left the room and I dumped the juice in my water bottle… and when she came back she REFILLED MY CUP. MER MER MER. Yeah. So I ended up drinking it. And I DIDN’T GET SICK! Haha
- That fruit. Igo. Or what ever it's called REALLY does make my mouth burn. I should probably stop eating so much.
Alright. Just for any germaphobes (how do you spell that...) Raw meat above the bagged juice that we drink. And we drink it straight from the bag. Probably with raw meat juices. WOOP.
This little punk had a BIRTHDAY. And shared his cake with us. THANKS DUDE.
Working on my CHOLITA look.
Frying foooood.
This is how these children bathe.
Stealing fruit. SHHH don't tell anyone.
Tiny pears. And children.
Made some cookie dough... but we don't have an oven and I just really wanted to eat it. SO I FRIED IT.
Who wants to be my NOVIO*
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TIA. This is my Tia. Pretty much. :)
So today... my comp wanted to weigh herself so we went searching for a scale. When we finally found one I had a HUGE thing of ice cream in my hand... while getting on the scale. MY LIFE.
